About me

Welcome to my blog.

My name is Johanna F, I am also called Joey.  I live just on the outskirts of Johannesburg in South Africa, in a beautiful old neighborhood with big homes and big trees.

I was raised on a big family farm, until I was about 5 or 6, and it was time to go to school, then we moved to a little town.  But I still visited the farm with my brother, sister and cousins as often as we could.  I have wonderful memories of the warm wood fire stove where we spent early mornings with coffee that Grandpa made, and afternoons with Grandma, teaching me knitting, crochet, needlework, anything I would show interest in.  Grandma could do just about anything.

Now I live (basically) in the big city.  Johannesburg is a wonderful place, it is so busy and always on the go.  I love the country, the farm life, and at the same time, the big city.  I work at the University and it is a great job.  Never boring and never the same any given time.

I care for the environment as much as I can.  I drive my favorite car, a VW, it is small, parks easily, maneuvers well in traffic, is very economical on fuel, and most of all, is Fast!  That way I can get to wool shops, hobby shops and expo’s whenever the urge rises.

I love my hobbies, I knit, crochet, bead, paint, read, and many more.  I also like to drive, and see the countryside whenever I can afford the opportunity.

My blog is my latest “project”.  Here I will share my hobbies, my travels, my ideas with all.  The “Little Black Dog” refers to the dog in my life.  I also have two cats.  My daughter is a recently graduated Graphic Designer, she keeps me on my toes and up to date with the latest “tech-goodies”.
