So since I last posted about life in the little black dog household, sometime last year, I have been slowly and steadily crafting here and there, and keeping busy. It was lovely summers days, and hot, so crafting was not always done, and when I was crafting, it was small items that was easy to work on.
Very few are currently WIP’s and I did indeed finish most of the projects I started during the last few months.
Some cotton dishcloths for the kitchen, with little crocheted flowers. And a cheerful make up bag for a sweet and friendly colleague of mine.
One of the bigger projects, a very soft shawl with an autumn coloured edge. Nearly time to start wearing it, it is just a few degrees cooler here now. And a granny square, paisley pattern lined toaster cover. 🙂
When I dropped in at the LYS, she was working on this stunning basket pattern and kit. It was super quick and easy, and I now take it every day I come to work, it is perfect for lunch and snacks and all the other odds. I also finished Bop a Long, the furry bunny I had been planning. It was a trying project, as the fabric shed fur all the time, and I had fur everywhere.
For the holidays, I got the notion to “invite some friends” and some cute gnomes came around to visit. This one with the red hat was very popular. And I had to have a pair of red socks to wear as well.
My daughter gave me this stunning yarn from Italy, and I just knew it would be perfect for this wrap the moment I saw the pattern. It really shows up the details and texture. And I even had enough for a little hat too. Even my old pin notice board got a new vintage look cover with storage pockets. (it really needed a make over)
I bought this little kit last year in Brussels, Belgium and got it stitched up in no time once I got started. The pieces were all pre-cut. How nice. Now it travels in the car with me every day as a little good luck charm.
And during a visit to the local huge fabric and craft warehouse, I happened to come across these cute minions. I immediately knew they needed to come home with me. So I got a few balls of Turkish cotton and crocheted some little pockets and added the minions to them. Now my tissues and hand wipes are neat and tidy in my handbag, and I can have the little minions around all the time.
And this is the current progress on the cross stitch work I started last year. Still much a work in progress, but making steady progress. I absolutely love the embroidery floss and the gradient it creates.
And that is it for now, happy crafting to all and take care. 🙂
ps: This was the start of my day this morning, a beautiful Fall day.

On my way to work on this lovely foggy morning.
Wow! Lots of lovely finishes! Doesn’t it feel great to get things done? Especially things that have been on the list for a long time. The dish cloths are so cute. And handmade dish cloths are the best. Very sweet make-up bag for your coworker. I know she just loves it. The gnome and socks look perfect for the holidays and I can see why the little gnome was a hit. So cute. I just love your wrap and hat. The color is perfect and the pattern shows up wonderfully. I bet it will keep you warm on a chilly fall day. Your cross stitch is fabulous!!! And I do love that thread, too. The shading it creates is perfect for the design. You have been very busy and getting things done. Enjoy your fall days. For me, they are the most beautiful. And happy crafting 🙂
🙂 Thank you. I agree, the dish cloths are so handy, and lasts so much longer.
I am happy with my finished projects, I did not do much big ones, summer and the heat does not lend itself well to bigger hot projects. But Fall is settling in, and I can start planning a few bigger things again. 🙂
I do want to cross stitch more, and am hoping with winter coming I will have more crafty time as I tend to hibernate a bit.
Happy crafting there too and take care. 🙂
A very productive time. Loving it all but especially the washcloths. X
🙂 Thank you. Indeed, those washcloths really work. I have them in the kitchen and bathroom and they work great. Much stronger too.
I think I should add some to my ‘to do’ list, it would be a great way to use up cotton yarn. X
Absolutely. And they last so long too.
You’ve been busy:) I just love your bunny! What a cutie.
🙂 Thank you. I look forward to the Fall and Winter here now so I can get a few more things done.
Oh my goodness what a stunning show of projects. Very beautiful 🥰
Thank you very much. 🙂
Good heavens! You are so productive! I can attest to your little cloths – I use mine all the time and love them! After a year and three months they show no signs of wear. I often see cute little decals like those minions and have no clue what they might be used for so leave them where they are – now I have a starting idea 🙂 It looks most autumnal on your ride to work, it’s definitely on the turn here too, but no misty mornings as yet. I quite like to walk puppy in the mist, it gets magical.
Thank you, although these little projects have been over a few months. 🙂 I was a bit slow during the summer months. But winter will pick up again, it always does as I love to hibernate.
I agree, those cotton cloths lasts much longer. I have for the kitchen and bathroom. 🙂
Glad you have an idea for the minions too. I find it very hard to resist the Minions, they are just to adorable.
And indeed, autumn is finally kicking in. Still getting some rains here, which is on the late side for the season, but we need the water too. Miekie loves walking in the cooler weather, and for now she comes inside with wet and dirty feet and a damp belly. 🙂 The joys of such short legs and tall grasses. Another gloomy overcast morning here, but no fog or mist. It may bring some cold I think.
Enjoy the autumny weather and walks there and happy crafting.
What is it about minions I wonder – even I like them 😀 Miekie and Siddy both come home in the same state even though his legs are slightly longer ❤
🙂 I think the minions keeps us young, they are just adorable. I even have a pair of customized sneakers with them on.
lol, yes they both love the walkies and the damp too. Miekie is so used to me grabbing a small towel she now just wait by the door. 🙂
The sneakers is a great idea …… 🙂
🙂 Absolutely. And a great conversation starter when out and about too.
I think I would like it if you made a post about how you attach them to your sneakers – I may have to gussy up my own 🙂
🙂 My sneakers were actually hand painted with fabric paint by my son in law.
Now that sounds like the kind of s-i-l to have!!
🙂 I am very fortunate, and very happy to have him.
Wow!! For a person with a job, you get an awful lot done. I’m lucky to keep up with some of the blogging. There is nothing here I would give back if offered. It’s all wonderful but the lop-eared bunny stole my heart. Cross stitch takes time no matter what you do. The rest is just lovely. Quite impressive amount accomplished there. I’m hanging my head here.
🙂 Thank you. I have had a wonderful time crafting. Although it looks a lot, the projects were on the small side. Summer heat and crafting tends to let me just to smaller goodies. Now Fall is arriving, and I can plan some bigger projects.
hehe, yes I have a full time job, but I am lucky and have enough time to relax and craft too. I would not swap my job easily. 🙂
I loved the bunny too the moment I saw it, and just had to get started on it. Indeed the cross stitching is taking time, but I intend working more on it now in the winter months again, as I do tend to hibernate a bit.
You do just as much, and even more, you keep the blogging flowing all the time, I have been slipping but am trying to make up again.
Enjoy the day and coming weekend. Happy blogging and crafting.
Lovely finished makes…that gnome is so cute and I love your sweet little doggy good luck charm xx
🙂 Thank you so much.
What a lovely (and numerous) lot of finished projects. Well done!
🙂 Hi, and thank you so much. xx
Wow! So busy! Everything looks amazing, what a crafty summer you have had!!!
🙂 Thank you.
I did indeed have a great summer. Soon it will be winter and I can catch up a bit, and maybe start something a bit bigger again too.
Winter is a good time to knit bigger things!
So many lovely projects! It was very hard to pick a favorite but that bunny is so cute! And the scarf knit with the Italian yarn. And the minion tissue holders. And …. loved them all!
🙂 Thank you.
I enjoyed making these, and it seems a lot of them still include my favourite colour, Blue!!
I adore the little bunny, as I always do. I love stitching them, and seeing them come to life as I finish them.
🙂
So many lovely projects! Particularly loving all the blue woolly finishes, but everything is so lovely. Cross stitch always take me a long time, because I put it down and leave it for long at a time – usually years! I think you’re a lot better at not doing that than I am.
🙂 Thank you so much. I try and not put blue on everything, but keep finding myself with something blue. I just love blue at the moment.
I have been working on this cross stitch for a while too. Not as fast as I would have liked. I may be able to catch up a bit in winter. 🙂
I think I may have just come out of that phase, but I know exactly what you mean about blue. It is a lovely serene colour and so many beautiful shades.
I love your idea of the tissue pockets with the cute, little minions. I wish I had thought of that when my boys were little! What little guy doesn’t (constantly?) need to be reminded that he has some very handy tissues right there in his backpack?! Putting their favorite characters on them gives us a fighting chance that they’ll remember. Good work!!
Thank you. You are so right. If only I had these when my daughter was growing up too. 🙂 Now she is big enough to make her own. But one day we shall have grandkids and then we can put all these cool ideas to good use.
