I find winter in Johannesburg very pleasant and a joy. It is not extremely cold, and the sun is pleasant and comforting. I would not mind very much if we had our fair share of snow, since I do love snow.
But in Johannesburg we make the most of the pleasant winters days. Like spending a glorious sunny cozy morning, having a cup of coffee and enjoying the stunning view of the country clubs’ lawns. I bit dry in patches, which is to be expected in mid winter.

Winter Mornings in Johannesburg
I have been patiently knitting away at my grey sweater. I have already reached the under the arm length, and have now cast on for the sleeves. The progress is steady, and I am loving the way the cable insert is turning out. I have no pattern for this, so I will need to look at the top construction as soon as the sleeves are long enough.
And I spoiled myself with a little bit of happy mail. Stunning bright, cheerful yarns from Linda’s Treehouse, in Kingfisher. I chose Bee Eater and Sunshine Grows. I think these would be great summer wear items. 🙂 Or winter, as they are so cheerful.

New Stash Yarn
My latest find in project bags are these Box Project bags. They are square and deep with a zipper. If you open them all the way, you can fold the top back and they double as a portable fabric yarn bowl. The cute sheepies print on these were just irresistible. I got two sizes, one for sock size projects and one for shawl size projects.
You have been busy grey jumper progressing well love the wool and bags
Thank you so very much. I try and knit a few rows each day at least. Or it will never see much progress. 🙂
Lovely bags and yarn. Your sweater is gorgeous! I just love the cables.
🙂 Thank you so very much.
Your sweater is lovely – I am a big fan of cables. And your purchases are so happy looking, I hope they will make you smile whenever you see/use them!
I am enjoying the new bags, and I may be looking for patterns soon. 🙂 I am loving the new yarns.
Thank you. I hope the sweater turns out as I am imagining it. 🙂 but I may need help or a pattern as a guide to finish the top.
Your sweater is going to be stunning! I love the new yarn and box bags.
Thank you so very much. I look forward to seeing what it turns out like. I may need help for the top part and the sleeve inset though. 🙂
thank you for sharing the picture of Johannesburg in winter – it is lovely!
Your sweater is coming along – you are doing it without a pattern? You go, girlfriend! Wow, I am impressed.
New yarn does look pretty and cheerful and the new bags are adorable. 🙂
😉 I always enjoy seeing other parts of the world, so I have to share my little corner of the world as well. 🙂 cheerful and sunny in winter too.
I am indeed having a go at the sweater. But I will have to look for a pattern of sorts of use as a guide for the top part, with the sleeves and all.
Thank you, and have a great day. xx
Cheerful and sunny in winter – those words don’t go together in my mind, but I am glad they do in your part of the world! Holler if you need help with the sweater!
🙂 Absolutely awesome, thank you so much. This is new for me. All help is greatly appreciated.
Enjoy. xx
I think I would love your winters. Beautiful and snowless 😉 Your sweater is looking so wonderful and that you are creating it as you go is amazing! Love the new yarns. They do look really cheerful. I look forward to seeing them both on your needles some day 🙂 Enjoy your beautiful winter days crafting.
Thank you. Indeed, we are very lucky to have such mild winters. I love them, but I think a bit of snow now and again would be welcome too.
I like the cheerful look of the yarns, I may be looking for patterns sooner rather than later.
Enjoy your summer, and happy crafting. xx
That blue sky is beautiful. LOVING your grey sweater. I do love those boxy bags. I’m in the middle of making some project bags for the DYC but once I’ve finished those am going to have to work out how to make some boxy ones 🙂
Thank you, my sweater is coming along nicely, although with clear blue days like that I tend to spend it outdoors and knit less.
The boxy bags are super fun, and work so well. I know you will get the hang too, and they will be just as popular!
Have a great new week. 🙂
Thank you. You have a great week too xx
What a lovely jumper – it reminds me that I have an unfinished cardigan in the back of my wardrobe!
🙂 Thank you very much. And I am happy to know I reminded you on your cardigan too. Have fun!!
