Winter is my favourite time of the year. It is that time of the year when its just a little to chilly to spend so much time outdoors. And when it happens to be a long weekend, you really get around to all those creative projects that had been lingering for so long now.
This weekend I got around to working on these canvasses I had done about a year ago, if not even longer. 🙂 I have had various ideas, but none of them really took off. Then finally I decided to add to the canvasses and make them slightly 3D. I have been looking for interesting pieces to add, and so far, these are the ones I have accumulated. I painted them is the same colours as the original canvas colours, and added them so long. It is still a long way to go, as I will be looking for more pieces to add, but I am very happy with the content so far.
My Stormy Day Shawl is looking good. I have been working on it steadily, and have progressed into the various gradient changes. This is an amazing pattern, and I love working on it. It is the perfect name for a shawl for winter, as we have been having some pretty windy days here lately.

Stormy Day Shawl Progress
I ordered a ball of Scheepjes Secret Garden yarn a little while ago, and it has been calling to me since the day I received it. So this weekend I broke down, and cast on an open cowl with some 100% Wool (Turkish) and my pretty Scheepjes. I am using a mock cable / open eyelet pattern that was my Mom’s favourite stitch. I love the way the stitches show up with the white yarn. The Secret Garden yarn is amazing with it. It is going so quickly, and this weekend I will get some buttons to add to the side for fastening.

New Cowl
love all the artwork and fiber work! Enjoy these wonderful winter weekends. So much fun!
Thank you. I am enjoying the winter, and all the time I get to craft. 🙂
Take care and enjoy!
I’m a fan of winter too! Unfortunately, we are having end-of-summer heat and humidity already, and the first day of summer is two days away!
Those canvasses look lovely, I’ve never seen something like that.
Your knitting is beautiful as well. Enjoy. And please give your doggie a kiss from me!
Thank you. Yes, Ive heard summer in the north is hot and humid already in so many places. 🙂 Just enjoy, and drink lots of cold drinks.
I am liking the canvasses as well. 🙂 They are starting to look like something at least. Took me a rather long while to get them to develop into more than just paint.
I will kiss my little doggie, from you. She is enjoying winter, and loving the spoiling and sweaters. 🙂
Beautiful knitting. Your painting in progress are awesome, love the creativity.
Thank you so much. I hope to eventually complete them. 🙂
Nice thick shawl – so pretty! I think I like the yellow canvass. It really pops! 🎉
Thank you so much. I am loving this shawl as well. 🙂
Thanks for the comments on my canvas, I really need to give them more attention and get it done as well. 🙂
Gorgeous canvases. I had no idea you were multimedia! The shawl is phenomenal.
Thank you. 🙂 lol, sometimes I have a brainwave and come up with things that are different, and I love it. These are just taking a long time. Hopefully soon!
And of course, hoping to finish my shawl soon as well.
I don’t have a favourite time of year, but great to hear you’re enjoying winter (as I’m melting in summer). Loving the stormy days shawl and great to see you’re working on your artwork after allowing it a rest 🙂
Thank you. I hope your day is a bit cooler today. It is sunny here, but chilly. Nearly time for my midwinter break. Yay. 🙂
Thanks, but melting here again today. Still apparently today will be our last ultra hot day. I hate to complain at sunshine, but we never seem to stop around 21/22 degrees any more, but leap from 15 to 28 and back again!
Beautiful! Love your shawl and cowl in progress
Thank you so much. 🙂
Good to see that inspiration has struck enabling you to work on the canvasses. Sometimes a break is all that is needed to see things afresh. Loving the shawl – ‘Stormy Days’ is the perfect description!
Thank you so much. 🙂
