It has been a rainy weekend here. I spent the time hibernating and knitting. It was excellent weather to stay indoors and craft and create. Not good light though for taking many photos of my knitting, but the wrap is receiving lots of love and attention. I have ordered yarn for a crochet project, and it should be arriving today. Yay.
So this is how it started on Friday afternoon, the rain and cold winds rolled in just as I arrived at the stores for delicious weekend goodies and warm snacks.
And on Sunday I spend a large part of the day having a Mother’s Day breakfast and shopping with my daughter. The weather turned icy cold just as we arrived and it then rained some more, after raining the whole of Saturday as well. We spend the time well, shopping for winter beanies and warmers. Breakfast was delicious and warm, and included lots and lots of very good coffee.
The mall is stunning, and I can never get enough of the architecture and beauty of the design.
Cold and wet and grey out there. It is definitely winter here now, and I am very happy with the colder weather. The trees are turning colour, and soon everything will be covered with a blanket of leaves. I love this time of the year.

We had a rainy weekend here too. I’m glad you made the most of yours:)

Absolutely. Rather unseasonal, as we mainly have summer rains. Winter rains brings lots of cold. But we still love it and make the most of it. It has passed, and now we have sunny winters days again. 🙂

Your post really resonated with me today as it’s been raining and misty all day, but I’m really enjoying staying in the warm and doing indoor things – although being Monday this not the luxury of knitting. Great to hear you had a lovely mothers day with your daughter 🙂

Glad you enjoyed it. Rain in winter in Johannesburg is rather unseasonal. We mostly have summer rains. So the rain brings extreme cold too. It has passed and now it the usual winter days, sunny but chilly, warming up during midday. Our winters are pretty mild and you dont need the extra layer of clothes each day. And definitely not all day long.
Hope yours warm up again soon, although I think your trees are loving the water. 🙂 Have a good day.

Good to hear you’re back to normal. I’m not sure we’d think your winters winters at all as I’ve been told you don’t have central heating in SA, because you don’t need it. I’m quite enjoying the change to damp and wet – I get bored when the weather stays the same too long. Does that make me crazy? You have a good day too xx
littleblackdogsa said:
🙂 No, I dont think you would think our winters are winters. It can be very mild. You definitely don’t need a coat every day, a nice warm sweater will do. Mornings and evenings can be chilly, but with the sun out if can be very pleasant. Very few of us have central heating, unless you actually stay in the few places that may get a bit of snow. Like close to the mountains or such. In my home we use gas heaters, they are more than sufficient. 🙂
Not crazy at all. It love winter, you love damp and wet. I do love foggy mornings just as much. You have the best foggy days, I just love them.
Have a good one, and happy crafting. 🙂

Hold on! I only love so much damp and wet. But yes, the fog here is especially is amazing – no wonder Dartmoor inspired Conan Doyle to write Hound of the Baskervilles 🙂
littleblackdogsa said:
hehe, I know what you mean. 🙂 Only so much, then we want sun again. Either way, it is always nice regardless of the weather, as long as the weather does not last for to long. 🙂
I enjoy your “foggy” photos, I can just imagine how amazing it must be to actually be there, and get to walk around in it and experience it first hand. Awesome.
Enjoy the weekend, and hugs to Mr. H. 🙂

Rainy here too even though we’re in the other hemisphere. Global wetness. Knit on!

Hope things are getting dryer in part of the world. It is supposed to be summer there. Happy knitting and crafting. 🙂

We’ve currently got a spell of similar weather in England, too, but it is good for crafty activities I must admit, so cant complain! Glad you had a lovely Mother’s Day with your daughter – sounds a great way to spend time together.
littleblackdogsa said:
Thank you, yes we had a great day, and love spending time together. You would never say we only stay about 20 minutes apart, we always seem to be wanting more time to visit. 🙂
I hope you have Spring / Summer weather this week. Our days are sunny and cool at the moment, typical Fall / start of Winter. I so love it, I am able to craft. 🙂

sounds like a good weekend to me! Funny, you are having winter and it is cold and rainy. We are having spring and it is cold and rainy. I wonder who is getting the sunshine?
littleblackdogsa said:
🙂 Very funny indeed. Rather a few people from around the globe has said they are having rain, even in the parts that is supposed to be having Spring / Summer. Makes me think, maybe winter is wanting to linger a bit longer in order to give us knitters and crocheters more time with our lovely fibers? 🙂
salpal1 said:
that could be it. 🙂 Certainly I wore more wool socks this month than I ever have before in May!

We had a blustery end of the week here as well. I’m happy you took advantage of yours.

We are lucky to have very pleasant and mild winters, with the occasional cold spell. I think that is why I absolutely adore the winters here. 🙂

Rainy days are perfect for staying inside and crafting. Our days are getting warmer and sunnier and I am torn between staying inside and cleaning or going outside and cleaning. I am choosing to stay in and get things done. Not a whole lot of crafting though. Can’t wait to see photos of your shawl. Your Mall is beautiful! All of those curved windows windows are amazing! Enjoy your weekend.

Rainy days are indeed perfect for indoors. I am glad you are also indoors, even though you are working. But it needs doing, and when one is done, the satisfaction is awesome. Then crafting is even better.
Yes , I like this Mall, it is airy and spacious and has wonderful natural light. Lovely to be in.
Enjoy the weekend and enjoy the good weather. 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day. I love those cozy days as the season changes to cool weather. It’s been cold and rainy here too
littleblackdogsa said:
Thank you so much. And the same to you. I am not sure when you celebrate Mother’s day, as not all countries celebrate at the same time 🙂
Loving the cooler weather here, although its pretty and sunny and just cool and pleasant. It is so nice, I really enjoy it, specially sitting in a cozy sunny spot for a bit of crafting.

Mother’s Day is always the second Sunday in May and Father’s Day is always the second Sunday in June. I believe Canada is a month or so ahead of us.
littleblackdogsa said:
Yes, then you are on the same dates and calendar as we here in SA. 🙂

Nothing like cooler temperatures to get those knitting needles flying 🙂 Enjoy!

It is one of the many malls here, and this one is very pretty and popular. It is airy and open and inviting. We love to visit there, and sitting under / inside the glass domes feels like sitting outside.
