Winter has now arrived and settled in good and properly. We have even had a few very cold and eerily foggy misty days. I loved it. This is definitely the most favourite time of the year for me.
These are just a little view of how it looked, the photos of the roads was in the afternoon going home, and the others were taken in the mornings when I arrived at my place of work. And yes, we drive on the “other side” of the road for those who may have wondered. 🙂
It did then also mean lots of knitting and crafting. I finished the dark grey cowl for my daughter. She really got cute yarn, and the speckles in this dark one is even prettier and brighter than the previous one.
Of course, new WIP’s are on the needles as well. I started another beanie for my son in law, in lovely warm Manos del Uruguay. It is knitting up so fast. And I started a wrap for myself. This is Alpaca yarn from Turkey and I am absolutely loving it.

Rare Earth Beanie
When I dropped in at my LYS during last week, they had Rowan Kidsilk available at a discounted price. How awesome. I simply could not resist getting these dark jewel colours, each with a bit of sparkle of its own. Then I also spoiled myself with some new KnitPro Zing needles, in the smaller sizes, ideal for lace and sock knitting. They were a bit extensive compared to others, however I just know they will be worth the price.
If you are using these needles already, let me know what you thought of them. 🙂
Happy crafting all.
love the foggy photos! Winter with you is like summer with us, lol. But not this week – we have a whole stretch of 4-5 days of clear blue skies and sunshine!
Love the WIPs – they all look fabulous, as does the finished cowl. Fun colors.
Kidsilk haze on sale – now THAT is a wonderful thing. 🙂 love that dark blue…
Hi there. So glad to see are having clear blue skies. Awesome weather. Its sunny at the moment, yet cold and windy. I do love our winters though. So mild.
🙂 Could not resist the yarn, and being on sale made it even easier to just buy them.
Looks like our Summer so far! I love Kidsilk but can’t comment on the needles, I’m afraid, as I don’t use those. Lots of productivity is great to see on the WIP front – looking good!
Thank you. Our winter has been mild and fair. Only a few chilly mornings. 🙂 Like today, starting out at 5 degrees. But midday around 20 again, so nothing to complain about. I have not yet used my new needles, but am sure when I start knitting the lighter weight yarns again for summer, they will be tried out. 🙂
You just made me miss MidWestern US winters. The heat index is well over 100° F. I’m longing for the fridged temps. It’s only socially acceptable to take so many layers of clothing off.
Love your cowl and works in progress. Stay cozy and have a nice weekend
100 degrees F!! That is way to hot. Around here it is considered a heat wave. Indeed, one can only take of so many layers. I love our winters, they are stunning and mild.
Thank you for the compliments on my work. 🙂
Have a great new week, and stay cool!!
Your winter pics are beautiful! Here in KZN Midlands the hills and farmland are so magical at this time of year. I have complete yarn envy with your Rowan yarn … lucky find!!! Can’t wait to see your FOs. xxx
Hi Laura,
So nice to hear from you, and thank you for visiting. I totally agree, the Midlands are stunning. Specially this time of the year.
The yarn was a lucky find, I am glad to have been there at the time. I did not even put them away, just on my worktable. 🙂 They are just to pretty.
Take care and enjoy the stunning winter days. xx
It looks like your ready for some fun! Enjoy your WIPs.
Thank you very much. 🙂 I always have so much to do and so little time. 🙂
Seeing your winter pictures makes me so thankful it is summer here. Even though the last few days have been hot and muggy with temps at 90 degrees or above. It is good that you like winter. And it is good for stitching. Your needles are clicking right along on your projects. All the yarns are lovely. I especially love the shawl your are knitting and I am looking forward to seeing more. It looks so soft and appears to drape well. Sweet needle with the heart on it ❤
Hi, and thank you. Nice to always hear from you.
I think I love our winters, since they are much milder than those in the North. For instance, its now around 10h00 and its already 60 degrees. Not bad for a winters day. 🙂 Will get a bit warmer even. But for us its winter, so we relax and hibernate when we can.
It is amazingly hot out your way. As long as you love summer, the heat is good then. And one can always find a little shady spot to enjoy. 🙂
Enjoying my knitting a lot at the moment, the weather is just perfect for it. Taking a break for my winter vacation soon as well, and then I can knit and craft a lot.
Take care and enjoy your summer. Happy stitching.
Love the fog! We had a day like that yesterday! Sadly, today the sun seems to be winning!
I can not agree with you more. Foggy mornings and evenings are so stunning. You have stunning foggy days, with beautiful views when the fog lifts. 🙂 I love watching your photos for those foggy days. Have fun.
Ugh. I am not a fan of winter. Knit often to survive
Lol. I am such a sucker for winter. Its my favourite season. But its probably because our winters are not nearly as severe and cold. Evenings and mornings can turn nice and chilly, but the days are still sunny and comfy. If you find a nice sunny spot during the day, it can make for a really nice time outside.
🙂
Oh wow, your winter weather is like our fall!
Fall is fine,
but it always leads us knee-deep into winter 😉
Love those sweetheart needle ends! 🙂 ♥ ❤
🙂 I guess that is exactly why I just love our cooler weather and seasons. It is still so mild and the days are still sunny.
🙂 My daughter got me the needles from “De Afstap” in Amsterdam when she and her fiance, (now husband) visit there. I love them just as much.
