If there is one knitting and crafting tool (toy) I have always loved and dreamed about, it was a Swift. Yes, my very own yarnswift. Around here, they are extremely scarce. They are expensive and only imported. The LYS just don’t keep them. So i have always just made a plan and got by. The ball winder was a good way to roll already, and I was happy.
But then (for my birthday) my daughter and son-in-law surprised me with a big package. My surprise knew no end and my happiness has totally over the moon when I opened it and pulled out a Yarn Swift. Beautiful, brand new, and gorgeous. I don’t think I quite had the words to say Thank You enough times.
Now I am ready to roll lots of yarncakes and start knitting and crocheting even more. With Fall soon arriving here in Johannesburg, now is the ideal time to stash dive and get projects planned and patterns ready.
I have been knitting on my leafy lacey shawl. It is coming along just nicely. I have now done a few pattern repeats, and you can start to see the leaves develop.
This weekend will again also see the Hobby X craft and hobby expo in Johannesburg, and I plan to go and see what they have on offer this time. I am sure I will see lots of new and awesome goodies, and lots of yarny goodness.
How lovely…have fun x
Thank you. I am going yarn shopping on the weekend, and then I can play with this new toy!! 🙂
Oooh happy birthday. I love my yarn swift. Very handy tool. Have fun…
Thank you. I look forward to using it. It always looks like so much fun when others use it!
What a wonderful gift! I am sure you will get lots of use out of it. Buy lots of wonderful yarn at the Expo so you can play with your new toy 😉 I’m so jealous you get to go to a hobby Expo. The ones here are usually for businesses and the ones not are so far away. Your knitting is so pretty. I can see the beautiful leaves coming to life.
I absolutely love my gift. Its so wonderful to finally have one.
We are lucky with the Expo. Its only once a year in Johannesburg, and then later in the year in Pretoria, which is about an hour from here. But we get to take the Gautrain, which is our super fast train and bus service and its a lot of fun. As soon as you get on the train you start meeting ladies going to the expo, so we start chatting immediately.
I did buy lovely yarns and goodies. I will post soon. 😉 I took photos but were not happy with them, need better light.
Thank you for your kind words on my knitting. I love this piece and its such a great knit.
Oh, I forgot…Happy Birthday!
Thank you!! Much appreciated.
Oh hooray for you! It’s quite beautiful. What a wonderful gift. Happy Happy Birthday!
Thank you so very much. It is beautiful, and I have lots of new yarns to wind. 🙂 real soon!!
That lacy shawl looks so pretty. Congrats on the swift!
Thank you so much. 🙂
I hope to wear my lacy shawl soon, and dress up my winter sweaters with a lovely warm colour.
Happy birthday! What a treat! Here swifts are easy to come by and relatively affordable, but I STILL don’t have one! Good grief. (Love your shawl!!!!!!)
Thank you for the good wishes and the lovely comment on my shawl. 🙂 Much appreciated.
The swift was the best treat ever. 🙂 I really do feel spoiled.
I had to buy my own swift after heavy hint dropping didn’t work! I love it, though, and so does hubby as his arms are no longer required:)
Lol. I can imagine. I love mine, and now my dog does not get herself tangled in the yarns anymore either. 🙂
