Wow, it’s February already! Where has January gone to?
I look at my calendar, and wonder where the month has gone. Its been a pretty hot summer month, lots of sunshine and heatwaves. With a little bit of rain, finally.
I did finish my daughters socks. They turned out great, even if I have to say so myself. This yarn is absolutely fantastic for socks, and with the bit of lycra in it, the stretch makes for the most perfect fit. She wanted cabled socks, and I love knitting cables, so they have a little cable running up the outside of the sock. They are soft and comfortable and I am sure will make for great winter comfort.
My Smocked Lace Scarf in burgundy mohair is nearing the end. I have finished the middle section, and have started the last lace section. Only a few more inches and pattern repeats and I can finish it off. I love this yarn and colour, and look forward to wearing this scarf in the coming winter and showing it off.
And I did work a bit more on the blanket I am making for the winter. It does not look very wide, but when stretched, its just fine. I just want a small blanket to cover one up in the winter when relaxing on the sofa with a book or a movie. I am thinking it needs a pretty border, and I know I have an old pattern (from my grandmother) somewhere that she always used to add to her knitted blankets. I just may need to dig deep in my old patterns and goodies, or maybe there will even be a similar version out on the web.
You’ve chosen some beautiful stitch patterns to use on all of these – I should watch out that your daughter doesn’t want the blanket too, as it matches her socks a treat!
Thank you.
🙂 I have taught my daughter to crochet, and she is currently working on a blanket for her home. Just little rhombus shaped pieces, she needs about 300, but will get there. They go quickly.
Luckily the tweed yarn is not really her style or colour, so I guess its going to be safe.
I have now picked out my next 2 projects, and am hoping to finish my scarf quickly, to get started.
I thought the very same thing about January just flitting by so quickly. I do hope that February takes a little more time. Your knitting is absolutely perfect! Those socks are beautiful and look like they will be comfy and warm. Your scarf is gorgeous and you will get lots of wonderful compliments when you wear it. It looks so soft and elegant. Your blanket is coming along nicely! I can imagine it covering my lap while I cross stitch in the evenings 😉 It will be so snuggly warm.
Thank you so much. That is the whole idea with the blanket, I really love a pretty little blanket to have around in the winter, and this is just want I need.
My scarf is nearly finished, and I will love wearing it in winter. I have picked out my next 2 projects, but promised to finish the scarf first before I start. 🙂 Keeping my fingers crossed though.
Beautiful socks, I want some just like that! 🙂 and I love the blankie too, so snuggly looking, it happily reminds me that winter is coming 🙂
Absolutely. Winter is coming. I must admit, I love winter and always look forward to it. I guess its because our winters are so mild and not freezing at all. Keeping my fingers crossed to get the blankie done by then. 🙂
You are a busy woman. Love the socks and your scarf and blank in progress are looking good.
Thank you so much. 🙂
You’ve been busy with your needles. Lovely patterns all round.
Thank you so much, can not wait to finish these and get started on something new. 🙂
Oh I know, the pull of something new is always greater!
February!?!? I know! I KNOW! As always, your projects look just divine. Especially the socks. So wearable with anything!
Thank you so much. I love the socks myself, my daughter is very happy with them. 🙂
It all looks great! I love cables so much as well. I managed to make some last year, in crochet, but it was a lot of hard work to get them right. I’ve been told it’s easier when you knit, but I don’t know how to knit. Might have to try to pick it up one day.
You know, that is awesome. I can crochet, and have never crocheted cables. Terrible isn’t it. 🙂 Well done to you. I can knit cables. I really need to add this to my “List” and learn it as well some time.
Love your blog as well, thanks for all the wonderful posts.
Have a great weekend. 🙂
I have no clue how to knit, or to knit cables for that matter, but in crochet it’s alot of front post and back post stitches, to create the cable-relief on your work. I loved doing it, but it went really slow. I made the “carter cable cowl” with cables, you can see the result here: https://catstitches.wordpress.com/2015/02/07/carter-cable-cowl-and-a-schoolbagbuddy/
Wow, that is stunning. I have never crocheted something like that. You are really good. I should really try it as well.
Love the little bunny, so cute!! 🙂
Those socks look great! They look so cosy, I want to get started on some socks sometime soon. 🙂
Thank you. They turned out lovely, but all the credit is to the stunning yarn. It knitted so well and created really cozy socks. I will recommend the yarn for socks any day.
Hope you also get around to socks soon. 🙂 Its a lot of fun.
