I could not share these with you before, as I was working on a swap package for a buddy in Canada, and since she knew I was her buddy, I needed to keep the goodies under wraps until the package winged its way across the big blue ocean all the way to Canada.
I kept the package kind of South African, in order to give her a taste of things here and what we do and love.
The washcloths and potholders are all 100% pure / raw cotton. The washmitten is Raw Cotton, and I use it at home as well. It is just lovely.
I could not resist some beaded items, and when I came across the little beaded sheep, I just knew it was meant for her. We all know how much we love our sheepy friends, thanks to their lovely woolies they share with us.
The yarn is our local produced African Expressions, that I love to use just as much. And I just had to share some of my favourite chocolates with her.
Needless to tell you how beautiful this gift is!
Thank you! 🙂
That knitting buddy thing is a really cute idea 🙂 Beautiful package 🙂
Thank you. I love the knitting buddy idea myself, as get the most cutest and gorgeous goodies from countries I can only dream of visiting. 🙂
How did you start the knitting buddy? I would love to participate in such a swap.
🙂 Thanks for your message. I am a member of Ravelry. It is a free online site for all fiber related friends. Go ahead and join. Then search for any of the swap groups that would suit you. I belong to a few and we swap every few months. It is just so much fun.
All the best. If you need any more help, just ask, I would be happy to help where I can.
Wow! Lucky friend! How did you find knitting with the Cotton On? I made a bag for my mum a while ago but the fibre really rubbed my fingers badly… Have started my shawl/scarf with the handpainted Soul……. xxx
I am so happy my buddy loved her goodies. She is enjoying her beaded goodies from SA.
The Cotton On is hard to work with. I crocheted with it, and it was difficult. No stretch at all. Turned out okay in the end, but my fingers were cramping. See my post Before and After. (July 2014) This time I knitted with it, which was a bit easier. No pattern and anything fancy, just very plain. I dont think it will knit well in a pattern. I do think it is good for bags and carry alls, as it does not stretch much.
Ohh, can not wait to see more on your Soul knitting. 🙂
Am probably going to blog about my Soul knitting tomorrow so watch out for that! xxx
l will definitely do that. Looking forward to seeing it. 😉
Such thoughtful gifts – you’ve obviously spent a lot of time making these and putting this package together. Gorgeous pink mohair too….
I loved making the package for my buddy. She seemed such a friendly person. She likes jewel colours, so the mohair was just who I thought about when I saw it.
